I’m not really sure what all the “desktop search” hype is all about.

I use Google Desktop for the News and Web Clips in the sidebar but I desactivated the search functionalities, I do not like Google to index my private files and I never really need to search my desktop!

I’m very surprised of the price of the transaction.
Mr Bouchard, the CEO, gave the impression that Copernic was worth around 60M$ and Microsoft, a few years back, was allegedly considering the company for a comfortable 120M$.
What happened along the way for the price to melt to a mere 16M$?
Considering Mamma.com is raking big profits in PPC revenue, I’m surprised Mr Bouchard didn’t get the hint by himself before and strike a deal, directly, with Google or Yahoo for a healthy PPC deal.
Well, perhaps Mamma and Copernic know best and they’ll show us why they joined forces, in the months to come.
Long life to… “Mamma-pernic”!

$16M is still overpriced for Copernic. Google or Yahoo! all have their desktop search solution and I doubt they were interested by Copernic.
